The new Australian Packaging Covenant (APC) commenced on the 1st July 2010.
We encourage all signatories to the expired National Packaging Covenant (NPC) to continue to support the APC.
The APC will focus on improved packaging design, away from home recycling, litter reduction and increased engagement across the supply chain through product stewardship. An important element of the APC is the Sustainable Packaging Guidelines (SPG) which has been developed to assist signatories to review and optimise their packaging.
If you have not done so already, we suggest you familiarise yourself with the new APC and SPG which are available on the links above.
At this stage you need to submit your declaration form to the secretariat. In early September we can then issue you with the new signatory commitment form, your invoice and an action plan kit. At this time all NPC signatories are encouraged to sign the new APC and to start preparation of their new action plan, including how they will implement the SPG.
All NPC signatories are still required to report against their NPC action plan for the 2009-10 year.
These reports must be submitted electronically to the Secretariat by 31 October.
